PAKISTAN EARTHQUAKE DISASTER RELIEF
On October 8, Pakistan experienced the worst earthquake in its history, measuring in at 7.6 on the Richter scale and causing widespread damage in Punjab, Kashmir, and the NWFP.
Deaths: Over 100,000 people
Injuries: Over 78,000 people
Homeless: Over 3 Million people
Entire villages have been wiped out. With winter only a few weeks away, the fate of an entire region lies in our hands. The time to give your support is now. Please contact us to see how you can get more involved.
YOUR DIL has created an Emergency Response Team that has established collection points throughout the NY Metro area for aid to be dropped off, so that it may be shipped to Pakistan. This team has collected over 2,000 boxes in the past 2 weeks, to be shipped directly to the hardest hit areas of Pakistan.
Over 100+ tons of disaster relief supplies have been delivered to the PIA Cargo facility at JFK. So much aid has been collected that a container via ship has been commissioned to deliver all remaining relief aid supplies.
FUNDRAISING EFFORTS
It is imperative that we refocus our energies on raising funds for the victims of the South Asian Earthquake. Without more monetary donations, even the helicopters will only have fuel to sustain flight for another week.Only an estimated $620m out of a necessary $5 Billion has been pledged, not to mention what portion has actually been allocated. Just as important, we need to prepare for the period of rehabilitation and reconstruction that will soon be upon us in the hardest hit areas of Pakistan.
Show your support for the victims by wearing the Earthquake Relief Wrist Band. 100% of the proceeds go to support the Earthquake Relief Efforts.

RELIEF AID COLLECTION EFFORTS
Thank you so much to all of you for your generous donation of much needed items. We are grateful, impressed, and deeply touched by everyone's effort for this cause.
In the past few weeks, we have seen our fellow American residents and citizens come together in unimaginable ways. People have trekked through the rain to deliver thousands of boxes of clothes, bought and shipped hundreds of tents and blankets, and cleaned their local pharmacies out of painkillers & essential medicines.
Volunteers have forgone sleep and rest to sort, box and deliver these items to PIA, most working through the night. What an incredible accomplishment! So, thank you to every single person who contributed to the relief effort!
DIL and YOUR DIL were able to deliver over 1,500 boxes to PIA. Along with other organizations collecting goods, we have delivered over 100 tons of aid, more than enough items for us to fill every PIA flight for the next few weeks.
Another entire container was loaded onto a container ship just this past weekend in Rahway, NJ. Thanks to the generous donations of YOUR DIL Members, this ship will be headed to the hardest hit areas of Pakistan with much needed clothes and blankets.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Are you still accepting items?
A: Emergency aid supplies have been collected in excess. We need to refocus our energies. The biggest need at this point in time is financial. Funds are needed to continue the relief efforts that are already proceeding on the ground in Pakistan. Please see above for where you may make donations.
Q: I don't live near the NY metro area (e.g. I live in South NJ, Upstate NY and CT, DC, Houston etc), but I want to donate. How can I do this?
A: While the Consulate of Pakistan and PIA are not accepting donations from individuals, they are accepting them from organizations, so we suggest you ask a local school, mosque, church in your area to conduct a Fundraiser. This is the most urgent need at present time.
